Scoop Lead Application

We’re in the business of joy—one scoop at a time. We make super-premium ice cream from scratch, in-house, every day, using high-quality, locally sourced ingredients. As a Scoop Lead, you’ll set the tone for the Scoop Crew: greeting guests, serving up ice cream, keeping the shop clean and welcoming, and making Theda’s feel like a place everyone belongs.

We’re looking for kind, reliable team players who love people, enjoy staying busy, and want to be part of something creative, joyful, and community-focused. If you’ve got experience in food service, comfortable handling cash, and ready to lead, we want to hear from you!

 
What You’ll Do

  • Lead a small team of Scoopers and contribute to a positive, collaborative work culture

  • Independently open or close the shop, following all procedures and safety protocols.

  • Greet customers with warmth and genuine enthusiasm

  • Serve ice cream and other menu items accurately and consistently

  • Engage guests in conversations about our flavors and seasonal offerings

  • Maintain a clean and tidy shop—including floors, counters, tables, and bathrooms

  • Restock supplies and monitor inventory needs throughout your shift

  • Operate the register and handle cash and credit card transactions

  • Help prep basic in-house items (like making waffle cones!) as needed

  • Represent Theda’s values of kindness, community, and fun

What We’re Looking For

  • Must be 18+

  • Must be available evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed

  • Comfortable handling cash, familiar with register opening and closing procedures.

  • Previous experience in customer-facing food service or retail roles

  • Previous experience leading a team - work, sports, or otherwise!

  • Friendly, kind, and reliable—someone who thrives in a team setting

  • Responsible and punctual

  • Excellent communication and customer service skills

  • Willingness to take initiative and pitch in wherever needed

  • Attention to detail and a commitment to cleanliness and safety

  • Must be comfortable standing for long periods and lifting up to 30 lbs (ice cream can be heavy!)
